PhotoParty Privacy Policy

PhotoParty is a party game where each round shows a random photo from one player's phone to the other players in the same game. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your photos and other data. It adds to our general privacy policy.

The short version

• No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
• Only a photo picked for a round leaves your phone, resized to a smaller version.
• That photo is sent through our game server to the players in your game. The server passes it on and never saves it.
• Other players' phones show the photo during the game and discard it when the game returns to the lobby or the app closes.

Your photo library

With your permission, PhotoParty reads the list of photos on your phone to draw random ones for rounds. The app shows you a pool of candidates first. Nothing is uploaded while you browse. You can limit access to selected photos, or withdraw access at any time, in your phone's settings.

What is sent when your photo is picked

• A resized copy of the photo (at most 1080 pixels on the long side), re-encoded as a new JPEG.
• The date the photo was taken, used for the "What Year?" mode.
• In Faker mode, a few extra photos from your phone that are shown only to the player who is the faker.

The original photo is never sent. The app keeps a temporary resized copy in its own cache on your phone while preparing it.

Our game server

Games run on a server hosted by Cloudflare. It relays photos between players over an encrypted connection and holds them only in memory while forwarding them. Photos are not written to any database or log.

While a game room exists, the server stores the room code, each player's chosen display name, a random per-room player token, the game settings and the game state (scores, votes, guesses and the year a round's photo was taken). All of this is deleted automatically when the last player leaves or times out.

Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to connect you and protect the service.

Other players

Everyone in your game sees the photos picked from your phone and your display name. The app has no save or share button for other players' photos, but we cannot stop someone from taking a screenshot. Only play with people you trust.

Stored on your phone

The app remembers that you accepted the terms, your last display name, your last room code and a token that lets you rejoin a room. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes all of it.

Invite links

Invite links and QR codes contain only the room code.

Purchases

If you buy an in-app purchase, the payment is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of the purchase, not your payment details.

Age

PhotoParty is not directed at children under 13.
